Which data are in the database?
The initial stock of ecological data was compiled during the DFG project ARAMOB and comprises study data of both natural history museums in Karlsruhe (SMNK) and Stuttgart (SMNS) and the working group Ecology and Ecotoxicology of Communities at the Institute for Environmental Research of RWTH Aachen.
After a test phase with the data mobilized by the project ARAMOB users will in the future be able to contribute/upload their own data to analyse them in new environment together with more data and make them available to other users.
Data are managed in Diversity Workbench and mobilized through cache tables for different use scenarios. To ensure permanent archiving and availability of the data, both natural history museums of Baden-Württemberg, SMNK and SMNS, are members of the Gesellschaft für Biologische Daten e.V. (GFBio). SMNS und SNSB) are Collection Data Centers. In the near future a data center for arachnological data is planned in cooperation with the Arachnologische Gesellschaft (AraGes).
